FRAGRANCE OILS

Some Fragrances May Be Reformulated?

Due to upcoming changes with prohibited substances, and IFRA 49 coming into effect, we may have to change some of our fragrances to keep them compliant. With Lilial being banned from the 1st of March, we thought now was the best time to make any changes needed for those oils that contain it. Therefore please keep an eye out for fragrance oils on the website marked REFORMULATED as you will need to download the new CLP information. All documents will be uploaded if the oils are changed. They will be under the second safety data sheet link, clearly marked. All oils are suitable for use for Candles, Diffusers, Soaps etc as normal, and meet the new IFRA 49th guidelines.

The lillial ban only applies to cosmetic products. If you are using the oils for candles, diffusers, wax melts, it does not affect you unless the final product contains over 0.3% Butylphenyl Methylpropional, and you can continue to use and sell products that contain it. Some fragrance oils that have over 3% of Butylphenyl Methylpropional will still be banned for all uses (if using 10% or more fragrance oil in your final product), this information can be found on the allergen sheets. Unfortunately because a lot of our customers use our oils for bath bombs, soaps, perfumes and other cosmetic products, we will have to change these oils.

We have also been busy reformulating all oils that do not meet the 25% maximum use for IFRA 49 for diffusers (section 10A). We know how important it is for you to be compliant, and do not want to offer products that could put your companies at risk.

We have spent time testing new formulations with some of our manufacturers and will be posting the reformulared oils shortly. This change comes into effect on the 10th of May, so all oils will be changed months in advance.
